The same principles can be used to convert to a 3 bar os as well.
2 bar map sensor vs 3 bar.
Can i run the 2 bar map sensor but tell the efi software that it has a 1 bar so that the kpa scale stays smaller.
3 digit numbers for identification.
I currently have a 2 bar map sensor but have a naturally aspirated race engine that would normally require a 1 bar map sensor.
I ll also be goi.
It is possible that detroit is slightly above sea level and you can use 12 11 in the formula for 1 mile above sea level.
Formula for the gm 3 bar map sensor is v 8 94 14 53 i have no idea why it s 14 53 and not 14 696 rounds up to 14 7 but it works out on gm s chart every time.
Notice that they both have the same part number on the first line but the 3 bar sensor on the left has two additional lines of numbers.
So if the sensor has three lines of numbers it should be a 3 bar sensor.
I ran the 2 bar map sensor with my old commander c950 without any issues but it did not change the kpa scale.
886 012 539 609 701 3 bar.
Whereas the 2 bar sensor on the right has only one additional line.
Conversely if the sensor has two lines its a 2 bar sensor.
749 861 the logic module uses the manifold absolute pressure map sensor to determine the absolute pressure not the relative to atmospheric pressure of the air inside the intake manifold and the atmosphere barometric pressure.
The sensor will measure each direction vacuum or pressure.
3 and 3 3 bar sensors are perfect for this because of their simple 3 wire connector reliability and accuracy.
1 bar is for a normally aspirated engine 2 bar will handle a forced induction up to 14 5 psi of boost 3 bar will handle a forced induction up to 29 0 psi of boost 4 bar will handle a forced induction up to 43 5 psi of boost.
