Angel food ministries which said earlier this month that it would not be able to distribute its discounted food for the month of september announced this week plans to shut down for good.

The program began in 1994 with 34 families in monroe georgia between atlanta and athens and has grown to serve. The headquarters was located in a 16 000 square foot warehouse in monroe. Our food pantry is in need of non perishable groceries to stock our shelves. These companies are generally considered to be bulk food buying programs of which there are three common types.

There were 473 distribution centers in georgia and more than 1 400 concentrated in texas missouri tennessee and pennsylvania. Our food pantry is supplied by many generous donations of non perishable food items as well as monetary donations by our parishioners. Unfortunately angel food ministries is closed nationwide and will not reopen. You can purchase food through the angel food program for substantially less than the prices available in the local grocery stores.
