They can just somehow tell they have a snake up there. By turning on bright lights and a radio you can make your attic an unpleasant environment to encourage raccoons to leave on their own. But you still don t know what type of animal or animals are up there. One of the most obvious and distinct noises in the attic or within the home is chirping.

You re most likely dealing with a nocturnal animal since you hear noises at night so it may not be squirrel. Critters just love to live in the attics of homes and the walls ceiling gaps crawl spaces etc. If you are hearing animal sounds in your attic at night it is most commonly a raccoon because they are nocturnal animals and thus most active at night. Raccoons can enter your attic through loose shingles and or openings the roof and eaves.

Sounds coming from your attic could be from a number of causes pipes settling wind but the most common cause is the presence of an animal or animals in the attic. Raccoons rats mice and squirrels all scratch. It will make heavy thudding dragging slower moving sounds. They are the largest animal that will enter your home.

Raccoons are often the loudest sound you will hear in your attic. This is an immediate sign that birds are nesting within your home or business. Bats in attics can make noises. Most animals scratch in the attic to clear out space for nesting or maybe to bury food.

A large slow nocturnal animal you might just hear walking in the attic. You may hear scratching or thumping or scittering or nuts rolling around or even vocal noises. Raccoons make certain attic noises. Most of the sound will be during the daytime since most birds are diurnal.

Mice and squirrels can be heard gnawing and moving throughout the attic. Raccoons are capable of ripping shingles off and chewing holes in buildings. Flapping sounds and chirping. With bird habitats becoming more and more scarce around the u s these animals are beginning to find alternative options such as our homes.
